Glasgow Warriors are gearing up for a thrilling encounter with the renowned Saracens, following their recent victory against Clermont, according to team captain Kyle Steyn. The Warriors are on a remarkable streak in the Champions Cup, having secured their place in the knockout rounds after achieving three consecutive bonus-point wins.
Steyn, who impressively scored two tries during the match, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming challenge, stating, "We have an incredible group that has played together for several years now, and we are all eager to support one another on the field." He added that the atmosphere during the game was electric, making it an enjoyable experience for the team and fans alike.
In a dynamic start, the Warriors quickly established a 26-7 lead. However, they faced some adversity in the second half when players Patrick Schickerling and George Horne received yellow cards, putting the team under pressure as they had to navigate through a difficult period of reduced numbers.
Steyn’s second try was pivotal in easing the tension, allowing Franco Smith's squad to secure a 33-21 victory despite the challenges they faced.
"Naturally, we felt a bit anxious during that second half, which is something we'd prefer to avoid," Steyn reflected. "Nonetheless, we had a solid plan in place to tackle situations like receiving two yellow cards. I’m really proud of how our forwards rose to the occasion during those ten minutes, even though we conceded 14 points. Ultimately, we managed to overcome that hurdle."
Looking ahead, a victory against Saracens next Sunday at Scotstoun would not only solidify Glasgow's position at the top of Pool 1 but also guarantee them a home match in the Round of 16.
Steyn acknowledged the formidable reputation of Saracens, stating, "They are a very strong team that excels in European rugby. It will definitely be a tough challenge, and I'm really looking forward to competing against them in front of our loyal supporters."
As the anticipation builds for this exciting clash, one can't help but wonder: Can Glasgow maintain their impressive form against such a seasoned opponent? What are your thoughts on the matchup? Share your opinions in the comments!
