A fire that broke out near Murray High School's woodshop has led to a three-week extension of remote learning for students. The fire, which occurred during a passing period, was quickly extinguished by first responders, but the smoke spread throughout the school, prompting the evacuation and dismissal of students for the day. School officials, after consulting with district officials and a restoration service provider, decided to extend remote learning until March 16th. They emphasized that daily attendance would be tracked based on the completion of work, and parents would be notified if their student was marked absent. The letter to students and their families urged them to ensure their students log into Canvas and complete assigned work each day. This decision was made to ensure the safety and well-being of the school community while the necessary repairs and clean-up are carried out.
