Marchand's performance was notable, as it was his slowest 200 IM time in years, dating back to a local regional meet in France in March 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic. Casas' absence from the 200 IM doesn't necessarily mean the end of his meet. At his last meet, the U.S. Open, he swam a variety of events, including the 50 back, 100 fly, and 200 free. Casas has four remaining entries at the Austin Pro Swim Series: the 100 fly, 200 free, 50 back, and 100 free. The 50 back, where Casas is the top seed, is a high-stakes race with a potential prize of over $3,000 for the winner.
