A routine evening walk in Sydney's inner-east turned into a nightmare for a dog owner and her two furry companions. The incident occurred on Crown Street in Surry Hills, where a hidden electrical danger beneath the pavement led to a devastating outcome.
As the owner strolled with her dogs, one of them stepped on an electrified manhole, resulting in a fatal electric shock. The second dog, a black Staffy named Ninja, remained by its sibling's side for hours, showcasing the deep bond between the animals.
The cause of the tragedy was an exposed wire from a defective underground link box. Pouring rain likely created a pathway from the live wire to the lid's metal rim, allowing unsuspecting pedestrians to walk over the live circuit for over 15 minutes before it was cordoned off.
